Kaukaista sukua - Distant relatives

Hei taas, rakkaat lukijat!

Olen penkonut äitini isänisän Juhon juuria, ja saanut selville asioita, joita en tahdo millään uskoa. Nimittäin jos olen sukupuun oikein lukenut, osa äidinpuoleisista juuristani mene paikkaan nimeltä Vanaja. Se on todella kaukana etelässä. En tahdo millään uskoa, muta pakko se vaan on. Ja nimet ovat ihan tuntematomia. Toisaalta tuntuu kivalta penkoa sukupuuta, se kun kertoo, missä kaikkialla minun juureni ovat. Tosin ei se kerro niiden ihmisten tarinaa, mutta nimikin on minulle jo askel lähemmäs. Kuva tietenkin auttaisi vielä enemmän, elämäntarinasta puhumattakaan, mutta jo pelkkä nimi tekee ihmisestä todellisemman minulle. He eivät ole enää pelkkää yhtenäistä, anonyymia ihmismassaa, joka on elänyt kauan sitten. Ihmiset, joilla on nimet ja perheet, alkavat erottua joukosta ja hahmottua omiksi ryhmikseen ja linjoikseen, 

Tiedän, tätä on vaikea pukea sanoiksi, mutta se, joka on kokenut tämän, tietää kyllä, miltä tuntuu saada tietää kaukaisista esivanhemmista, joista ei ole tiennyt aiemmin mitään.

I've been digging into my mother's paternal grandfather Juho's roots, and I've found out things that I can't believe. If I've read the family tree correctly, part of my maternal roots go to a place called Vanaja. It's really far south. And the names of the people are completely unknown. On the other hand, it feels nice to dig into the family tree, because it tells me where my roots are. Of course, it doesn't tell the story of those people, but the name is already a step closer for me. Of course, a picture would help even more, not to mention the life story, but the name alone makes the person more real to me. They are no longer just an anonymous mass of people who lived years ago. People with names and families begin to stand out from the crowd and form their own groups and lineages,

I know, this is hard to put into words, but anyone who has experienced this knows what it feels like to learn about distant ancestors that they previously knew nothing about.
